Travelling safely as a person with a disability

Barrier-free travelling on the local lines in Grindelwald

Low-floor buses and wheelchair ramps enable you – as a passenger with reduced mobility – to be mobile. Each of our buses has a wheelchair ramp. If the wheelchair is a maximum of 1.2 metres long and the total weight does not exceed 250 kg, access is granted.

Please note that the measures taken by GrindelwaldBus for travellers with reduced mobility do not necessarily comply with the legal requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (BehiG).

By the end of 2023, selected bus stops have been converted in line with the Disability Discrimination Act. The stops are defined by the road owner – i.e. the municipality or the canton.

Would you like to go on an excursion on a mountain line? Please contact us in advance by telephone or e-mail so that we can advise and support you on your journey.

Smart travelling

  • Buy your ticket before starting your journey. This means you can go straight to a free seat after getting on the bus.
  • Let other passengers help you. For example, by holding down the stop button on the doors for longer: this keeps them open for longer.
  • Get in at the front door.
  • Take a seat in the marked four-seater compartment.
  • As a wheelchair user or passenger with walking aid, you can enter the bus at the second door. You can place the wheelchair or walking aid directly ahead for the duration of the journey. If you wand to get off, press the button directly next to your seat. Our drivers will then help you get off the bus.
  • Contact us if you need assistance from our drivers.
  • To get on the bus, press the blue button at the 2nd door on the outside.
  • Select also the blue button (in the four-seater compartment) to get off again. This way, our drivers know that you need a little more time to leave the vehicle.

Our tip: Buy your ticket directly from us at the sales point at Bahnhofplatz or from the driver on the bus. We will be happy to advise you.
